Training Courses offered by the Institute for Child Development include:

I.  Practical Training

1.  Internships at IWRD

The internships are designed for professional therapists working with children with developmental disorders.  Included is observation of therapy at the Institute, discussion of program with the therapist, analysis of documentation, and work with a child.

2.  Supervisions at other facilities

Trainers from the Institute for Child Development conduct supervisions at facilities where the principles of behavior analysis are being introduced in practice following theoretical study.  Supervisions and evaluations are also conducted at facilities already working in accordance with the principles of applied behavior analysis.  The supervision includes:

observation of therapists working at a given facility
analysis of documentation
discussion of therapy implementation
suggestions for new educational and therapeutic programs

II.  Theoretical Training

1.  Three-stage training course

Maximum group size is 20 persons.

The training covers behavioral therapy in working with children and youths with autism.

Program:

Stage One
Autistic disorders
Presentation of behavioral analysis

Stage Two
Educational programs
Behavioral therapy- teaching techniques
Basic methods of behavioral therapy
Data collection

Stage Three
Discussion of problems associated with current therapy
Development of verbal behaviors
Dealing with behaviors interfering with learning
Summary of the training program and discussion

Duration of each stage is 15 hours; total duration is 45 hours.

2.  Subject-specific training

Maximum group size is 20 persons.

Upon request, we will conduct training in the area of applied behavior analysis and therapy methods for individuals with autism and other developmental disorders.

Subject matter:

1.  Diagnosing autism and related disorders
2.  Working with a child with ADHD

1.  Teaching social behaviors
2.  Teaching verbal behaviors

1.  Building a motivation system in individuals and in groups
2.  Planning generalization of acquired skills
3.  Incidental teaching
4.  Videomodeling technique in teaching new behaviors
5.  The script and script fading technique in developing deficit behaviors
6.  Activity schedules in teaching new behaviors
